How Much Is a Cruise to Hawaii? What Goes Into the Price

How much a cruise to Hawaii costs depends on more than the fare. We do not publish prices here because they change every day, but we can show you every piece that goes into the total, so the quote you get makes sense.

Start with the fare itself, which varies with the ship, the date, the cabin and how full the sailing is. Then add the parts that are easy to forget: taxes and port fees, daily service charges, flights to the port, hotel nights, shore excursions and anything you buy on board. A useful habit is to compare the total trip cost per day, not the headline fare, especially when comparing a cruise with a land vacation.

What Pushes the Price Up or Down

  • Season: Christmas, New Year, spring break and summer holidays are busiest.
  • Cabin choice: a balcony is lovely for coastline sail-bys; an inside cabin leaves more for shore days.
  • Itinerary type: a seven-night island week and a two-week crossing are priced very differently.
  • Promotions: fares and perks change often; Wave Season tracks the big sales.
  • Discounts you qualify for: resident, military, senior or past-guest rates; see Cruising for Less.

Keeping Shore Costs Sensible

Hawaii’s shore excursions, from helicopter flights to snorkel catamarans, are popular and not cheap. Pick one big-ticket experience per island and keep the other days simple: a rental car on Maui or Kauaʻi shared by four people, a public beach, a farmers market in Hilo. Book the must-dos early, through the cruise line or independently through Shore Activities. Cost Questions

Why don’t you list Hawaii cruise prices?

Fares change daily with demand, cabin type and promotions, and any number we printed would soon be wrong. A quote for your dates is the only reliable price.

Are gratuities included?

Usually not in the base fare. Most lines add a daily service charge per guest, and some include it in package fares. Check what your quote includes.

Is it cheaper to sail from the West Coast?

Sometimes per night, because a mainland voyage has many sea days and you may not need a long flight. But the trip is longer, so the total may be higher. Compare total cost and total days.
